Will your slab's original elevations be restored? The answer is that it is not
likely, if it did happen it would be a pure accident. Your foundation repair
contractor has no way to know what the exact elevations of various points of
your slab were when it was new. The best that you can hope for is to stop the
movement.
How much damage do you really have and what are the steps you need to take to correct
the problem at the minimum cost? Costly repairs are not the only option and many
times can cause even more problems.

The Most Important Question Of All
Why has your foundation repair salesperson not completely answered these and all of
your other questions?
There are a number of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that a foundation
salesperson is really no different than a car salesperson, he/she will not make any
money if you do not buy something.
Completely answering all of your questions might lead you to the conclusion that you
do not need all of the repairs. Maybe that you do not need them at all! Some foundation repair salespeople seem to think that withholding information is not the same thing as lying.
We are not saying that all foundation salespeople are the same, some are very honest
and knowledgeable. The problem is that if you do not have experience in this
area it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to know what to believe or who
to trust. This is exactly
why you need an expert to advise you, someone who will make sure that you do not get
ripped off.
Remember that most foundation salespeople work on a commission, this includes
the honest ones, and the more
repairs they sell the higher their commissions will be.
Another reason could be that the salesperson giving you your estimate simply does
not have enough knowledge because of improper training and limited experience.
There is a very high turn over rate in foundation repair salespeople and many are never properly
trained. Some companies even depend on a high turnover rate as one of their lead sources.
Once a new salesperson has exausted his list of friends and relatives, he is
replaced someone else and the cycle continues.
Many companies proudly advertise the length of time they have been in the business.
It is much more important to know how long the salesperson who is doing your
estimate has been in the business and how long the crew that will work on your
home has been in the business.
You could end up with a 40 year old company who sends out a new inexperienced salesperson
to do your estimate and then send a crew that has only been doing foundation repair for a
month or two. Not an ideal situation...
